Because who hangs hats anymore?

Happy holidays, all.

Kristen just moved into a new apartment, and I wanted to make her new unfriendly place feel like a home, so I came up with the idea for this poster/comic/update. Took a while to get it just right, and now I really appreciate Marian Bantjes.

I’ll probably put this for sale as a poster or maybe a tote bag, but I need to finish the Kickstarter fulfillment before I can worry about that. If you really are interested, be sure to keep an eye on the site (either through RSS, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, or just visiting a lot) for details.

Don't tweet when you can text.

George Long once said “Don’t write anything you can phone. Don’t phone anything you can talk. Don’t talk anything you can whisper. Don’t whisper anything you can smile. Don’t smile anything you can nod. Don’t nod anything you can wink.”

Sounds exhausting.

The System 558: Carpe Gadget

While “carpe diem” is normally translated as “sieze the day”, this is actually not an accurate translation. “Carpe” is better translated as “to pick, pluck, pluck off, cull, crop, gather”, so it would be a better (though less catchy) definition to say “Pluck the day”. Of all the possible days you could pick for the day you might have, try to choose the best one you can. Or, in this case, do your best being careful with picking your gadgets.

San Francisco Bound

For those in the San Francisco area, I’m leaving tonight with cohorts of the Super Art Fight crew to head to Macworld | iWorld, to participate in our first ever west coast Super Art Fight appearance. If you’re attending Macworld, be sure to come by and check us out! If not, you can watch it LIVE. Details on the show and how to watch live here. Basically, at 2pm PST / 5pm EST on Friday, go to the Macworld uStream feed here (until 6pm): http://www.ustream.tv/macworld

While I’ve been to SF before, it’s been a while and I’m looking to find some good coffee, have some In-N-Out, and generally have a great time with the rest of the SAF crew. If you want to follow how that’s going, or share any local insight, be sure to follow along on Twitter as we post under #superartfight and #SF_SAF. Or just follow my general hijinks on Twitter @rosscott.

The System 521: The Dolfga

This week is “use all the icons I haven’t used yet” week, and “camera icon” was on the list.

Also, if you own this camera, you should probably own this shirt.

Speaking of shirts, you’re running out of time to preorder the new Professor Internet shirt. Support Caldwell, myself, the Internet, and Sandwiches all in one go!

The System 483: Mobile App Terms

True story, the DC Metro app I use to tell me when the next train is coming decided to update itself off of usage on my iPhone 3G. I posted about this on Twitter, and my clever friends began the app pun war. Thanks to Ananth, Caldwell, Hatton, Dern and Brandon for the chatter and ideas that inspired this comic.

Also for your enjoyment:

Which, is now going to be on a t-shirt and is now in preorder for $15! Preorders will run for a week. ORDER HERE »

The System 481: Smart Phone

A follow-up to “Dumb Phones”, what happened to my iPod and “Rosscott’s Law”.

Also, some unfortunate news, not sure about the update schedule for the next couple of days. Life is pretty swamped, so I may have to miss some updates. Fair warning, but I’ll try and keep you up to date through this post and new posts on the site.
