Just this morning, I thought to myself “does anyone actually read this blog?”. This is of course an extension of the question “does anyone actually read this website?”. My theory is that my mom somehow figured out how to make it seem like people are reading, except my mom is not that technologically advanced.

Back from my mom-related conspiracy, we have news that at least one person is reading these posts on things that interest me (generally design, coffee, nerdly stuff, and Mad Men). Here’s another post from my friends over at Fleen:

Speaking of design and redesign, I want to point you to some nifty Design Things. We at Fleen have been enjoying The System since it launched over the summer, and more recently, have been digging into the Rosscott, Inc blog. It’s heavily focused on a) graphic design and b) Mad Men; I don’t watch the latter, but the former has some really nifty stuff highlighted. Go check out fake movie posters, typeface porn, cool error pages, brilliant infographics, and more.

As a long-time reader of Fleen, it has meant a lot to me every time I get mentioned over there. Not to mention finding my way into their “A GOOD START” list of webcomics on the right side. Thank you.

For those of you who couldn’t make it to Super Art Fight and really wanted to see how it went, I present this very awesome video. For those of you who don’t know, I’m the one with a blue tux.

So, “when is the next one” you ask? December 20, 2008 @ The Ottobar. Mark your calendars.

That’s all of you Joystiq people checking out the site. Thanks for coming! I do a comic a day, Monday through Friday. It’s called The System. Normally, it’s funny. Sometimes it isn’t.

They are about wierd things, movies, video games, technology, working in an office, coffee, and biking. Sometimes, they are about other things.

Thanks for stopping by, come back soon! Subscribe to the RSS feed for updates.

I’m up for “Weekly Webcomic Wrapup” on Joystiq for Friday’s comic (#62). Go vote for me, since this is just about the closest to “video game humor” as I plan on getting.

Thanks!

Dear Ryan Estrada,

Today, you appear to be featuring guest comics on upwards of 100 webcomics. However, the wonderfully funny, irreverent, and never disappointing smash hit The System (http://www.systemcomic.com/). I am not one to criticize, but I think this was a rare opportunity that was sorely missed. Our readers (or “Systemics” as I have dubbed them), are an amazingly talented and crafty bunch, who would have greatly appreciated a comic that combined their love of myself and this comic with your famed “Ryan Estrada take” on things.

If you choose to rectify this, please let me know.

Sincerely,
Rosscott

PS Nice job. You’re everywhere today.

A while back, Fleen wrote about The System. They wrote some pretty interesting things.

I wrote to let them know we hit comic #50, and they were nice enough to write something. Go check it out.

If you saw it and are stopping by, well, that’s interesting.

Hi all! I’m trying to push my stats for the end of the month, to see just how much traffic I can squeeze out of August. If there was ever a time to pass The System onto your friends, that time would be now! Got a friend that’s a designer or generally in a creative field? They might appreciate these:

Got a friend in the city who bikes to work?

Got an odd sense of humor?

My great friend Jami of Angry Zen Master has done me the honor of another great writeup.

My good friend Ross Nover returns to the webcomic world with The System! Ross uses those universal sign graphics as a framework for his unique brand of the funny. I think it’s bloody brilliant and I’m sure he’ll go far. When he’s standing up at his Comic Con panel some day next to those other guys, I will sniff back tears of pride and say to myself, I knew him when we were part of the Washington Webtoonists.

Congrats Ross! The System rocks the hardcore!!

I remember when Jami used to do a small little comic that seemed stuck in a wrestling match for 6 months. There may have been boobs? It was a long time ago. Thanks so much, Jami! Link.

Lots of people liked the flyers I had out at Connecticon, so I’m posting it here on the site. Feel free to download, print, and distribute at your leisure. To give you some idea of how this went, I filled out the entire thing while sitting at my table in an hour on Saturday. (Ashley, you were there! Tell them it really happened!)
