I stole that grumble from Charlie Brown.

True story tag.

I Did A Thing For College Humor

I did a series of comics for College Humor that went up last week all about “Highlights Magazine: College Edition”. It’s got all the classic sections, “Check…and Double Check”, “Goofus and Galant”, “The Timbertoes”, “Hidden Pictures”, and even “Your Own Pictures”. Check it out by clicking here or the image below:

Some Advice for Graphic Designers

Also, wrote up a blog post last night, some advice for graphic designers based on Frank Chimero’s post that I happened to read. You can check out the original here and my own advice here.

The System 519: True Stories from Otakon

It flew out of my mouth before I realized I’d said it. Sorry to the fan that came up and had this happen!

By the way, the chart in question is the Types of Typsos chart, seen here.

Otakon, which I haven’t had time to talk about what with CHART MADNESS on Wednesday, was LOADS of fun! Lots of you fans in the surrounding area came by and made me feel welcome, and I really cannot thank you enough for that whether you bought something or not. Of course if you bought something, all the better.

I mostly spent the weekend at my table, so I didn’t get a chance to chat with other artists that much or go to any panels, but I was on a “collaborating in comics” panel thanks to Dern, and was in the same row as most of the Super Art Fight crew all weekend. Best of all was the chance to chat with Caldwell, since he lives out of town and the chances we get to hang out are great. We got to talk about the chart that you all saw on Wednesday which, officially, was the biggest day of The System ever.

While I posted this in the last post and in it’s own, the new Professor Internet shirt is now available, and is in preorder through next week. You should check it out here.

The System 483: Mobile App Terms

True story, the DC Metro app I use to tell me when the next train is coming decided to update itself off of usage on my iPhone 3G. I posted about this on Twitter, and my clever friends began the app pun war. Thanks to Ananth, Caldwell, Hatton, Dern and Brandon for the chatter and ideas that inspired this comic.

Also for your enjoyment:

Which, is now going to be on a t-shirt and is now in preorder for $15! Preorders will run for a week. ORDER HERE »

The System 466: Nope!

This is another true story (minus the miniature deer).

Oh and by the way! I was on the latest episode of Digital Strips talking about webcomics, Super Art Fight, and mostly reviewing one of my favorite comics, Yellow Peril. Also, Kleefeld did a great mashup of one of my comics. Check it out here.

You ever revel in being weird? Where? When? My long history of being weird dates back to being a huge Gonzo (of the Muppets) fan. It was even the basis for my college essay, which I guess turned out well enough. It did get me into college and all.

The System 459: Cycling Terms

Another “terms” comic. I haven’t done one of these in a while, but I love working on them. They always turn out well I think. Today’s comic is actually based on a true story of biking to work last week, where a guy zoomed by me, leaving only inches to spare, only to get pulled over a quarter mile later. Serves him right in my mind, as I wasn’t doing anything wrong. Makes you wish everyone just wasn’t in such a hurry all the time. Has this kind of thing ever happened to you?

To those that have stuck around since “chart-okalypse”, thanks! Hope you like what you’re seeing around here. As a recap on the chart, we’re working on a “PG” version of the chart as well as some more items that feature some of the artwork, including Professor Internet. Stay tuned to the site for more.

Another comic on Wednesday. To those in the US, hope you’re enjoying MLK day. To those outside, hope Monday isn’t sucking too hard.
