Anime Expo This Weekend

I’m heading to Anime Expo in Los Angeles with the Super Art Fight gang! In addition to having a table space to sell comics and shirts (I’ll be tweeting out where once we arrive from @Rosscott and @SystemComic), we’ll be having two shows as part of the convention:

On Friday Night, July 5th, from 10:30pm-12:00am in Live Programming 2, we’ll be bringing you Super Art Fight UNLEASHED! If you’ve never seen us…well, this will be a unique introduction, as an UNLEASHED event allows our artists to indulge their sickest, darkest, most surreal and most horrifying artistic urges. It goes without saying, but this event is 18+ Only, and absolutely no photography or videos are allowed. Period.

That’s just a warm up for the main event, however, as on Saturday Night, July 6th, from 6:30pm-8:30pm we bring a proper Super Art Fight event to the Live Programming 2 stage. This is what put us on the map, this is what has allowed us to go nationwide, and we have a fantastic card lined up for you.

UPDATE: Hey Systemics! What other ideas for effective diets do you guys have? Cutting out carbs with a knife? Jumping really high? Standing around fatter people? Slowly buying baggier clothes (As Rossmom mentioned)?

Apologies, all, for the lack of updates. I’ll come clean about the whole thing. The deal is, a lot of things are going on behind the scenes for my own development. I’ve been working on a redesign of this here website (more on that soon). I’m also applying to grad school, which means creating a new portfolio site. And on top of all that, teaching a full course-load of new classes at my day job teaching. So all in all, pretty busy. More than keeping me from putting the time into creating comics, all this stuff going on, with all these deadlines, is blocking the little bit of my brain that thinks of comic ideas while I have idle time. Instead, that little part (let’s call it “Carl”) is busy stressing about all these things up in the air. But Carl is still there. He’s just had a busy couple of weeks.

I can tell you, without a doubt, that while updates are sporadic, they will continue. I love doing the comic and I’m not giving it up, but all these other things have to take priority for the next couple of weeks or so. For those of you that are coming to the site for the first time or the 500th, please bear with it. Check back in a few weeks, and I’ll be sure to let you know when things are back on track. I recommend the RSS feed, or following on Twitter for updates.

If any of you feel like doing some guest comics, I’d be happy to put them up in the meantime.

Thanks to EatToast, who drew this and put it on my table at InterventionCon while I was home with that huge fever I mentioned. It’s been said by some that this comic pretty much sums up every System comic on the site. I’ll leave that to you the viewer to decide.

EatToast is an amazing artist who is also involved with Super Art Fight, where she dresses in this amazing costume and performs as an artist. Then afterwards she does hilarious post-game interviews (see video below).
