The System Guest Comic: Registered Weapon

Thanks to Gardner Linn of Registered Weapon for sending in today’s guest comic.  Only a one more guest comic to go until next week, when I step back behind the laptop to bring you more of the hardcore System on System action that keeps you yearning for more.  Meanwhile, check out Gardner’s comic Registered Weapon, as he is a new member in this fraternity known as webcomics.

The System Guest Comic: Allison

Systemics.  Read this email I got from Systemic Allison:

I attached a comic I came up with using your style. You could call it “fan art”. My inspiration… well… being unemployed =P and please don’t take the last sentence seriously! The idea for this comic just came to me and I felt compelled to put it together as a way to thank you for making me laugh during these rough times. Enjoy!

Your Fan,
Systemic Allison

Allison, you returned the favor.  Thanks!  I don’t know what field Allison is in, but if she lets me know I’ll post about it in case any of you guys know a guy who knows a guy.  All else fails, I need an intern.  I can’t pay anything, but I bet it’ll look great on a resume.

UPDATE: Turns out Allison has a degree in Marketing (with a capital M) from UConn.  If you know of any leads, let me know (systemcomic at gmail dot com) and I’ll pass them on.

The System Guest Comic: Lee Cherolis

This one is brought to you by Lee, the force behind www.hermanosroboticos.com.  It’s funny and he’s an amazing illustrator, so go check it out, yo.  Luckily, I get to finally meet Lee this weekend at the great New England Webcomics Weekend!  I totally owe him a drink.

Systemics: what kind of drink do you get for someone who does a guest comic for you?

The youngest webcomic artist I know, Ben Kahan, asked me to do a guest comic for his site, Ansem Retort.  I met Ben back at Connecticon 2008, and he’s been bothering the crap out of me and reminding me how old I am ever since.  I mean, I’m not that old, but the man is under the legal drinking age.  And he’s got over 500 strips under his belt!  Jeez, way to make us all look bad, Ben.  Still, I caved and did a comic for him.  Go check it out at his site, and read his comic.  Link.

For those of you tuning in during Guest Comic Week, you may have noticed the work of Amu’s World.  The creator recently put together this little piece of fan art based on this comic from the archives.

It’s a fun little comic that has recently started up, and is currently 6 comics in, but growing all the time.  The story is just starting to go somewhere, and I like each page better than the last.  Check it.

Btw, we’re always looking for more System in the Wild posts, and fan art never hurts either.  Systemcomic at gmail dot com.

System Guest Comic Week: Phil F. Kahn

Phil F. Kahn (most recently of Sketchies but also of a favorite of mine, I’m Just Drinking) brings us today’s guest comic.  An interesting take combining the imagery you’ve come to know and love with a reference to Sin City.  I’m a big fan.  Check out more of his stuff at Sketchies.

Remember, guest comics will be posted every day this week (November 17 – 21st) in preparation for the big event next week: The System Comic #100. You guys can expect the same inane blog posts in the meantime, and start getting ready for a few big surprises around here.

System Guest Comic Week: S_in_washington

When I sent out word on my Twitter I was looking for guest comics, is was not a fellow comic artist but my own friend Stephen who was first to respond.  Apparently he has lots of time on his hands and felt like sneaking a joke in.  Cheers.

System Guest Comic Week: Dear Pirate

Today’s guest comic is brought to you by Dern from over at Dernworks.  While responsible for a few projects, I first met Dern through his work on Dear Pirate.  It’s an advice column you can write in to a pirate.  Lately, he’s been playing more and more with clay, and coming through that has led to what you see above.  Even though it looks a bit like a creative turd, that which you see is an expert sculpting by Dern himself.  Genius.
