Check out the post on Offworld, which talks about Robertson’s amazing previous work, as well as gives a little more explanation.  Paul Robertson pumps pixels for energy drink – Offworld

Based on the short animation “9”, this upcoming film (also called “9”) looks amazing.  It has names connected like Crispin Glover, Elijah Wood, Christopher Plummer, Tim Burton, John C. Reilly and a ton more.  I can’t embed the trailer, but go check it out.  Link.

Also, here’s a youtube vid of the original animated short, and here’s the creator’s website.

(NOTE: I dusted off the “awesomeness” tag for this post.  Yeah, that’s right.)

I’m about to get out of here, but a few quick things before I leave the internet alone for the day.

My Mad Men correspondent Mollie sends me news of a Mad Men Revue:

Lionsgate is working on a plan to book more dates for the “Mad Men” musical revue that played the El Rey Theater in L.A. last month as a benefit for the L.A. chapter of the Recording Academy. The show featured musical numbers from the “Mad Men” early ’60s era and a dash of Rat Pack-esque shtick performed by supporting cast members of the Emmy-winning AMC drama.

I’m there.  Who’s with me?

A wonderful visual guide to the financial crisis (thanks, Carni).

Meanwhile, here’s a great vid my friend Jen sent out about the Philly Hot Dog launcher.

Lightning round!

  • An interesting article on “print literacy” and “screen literacy” in the new age of LCD screens everywhere.
  • They ran cables for a bridge across a giant gorge with ROCKETS.
  • And because it’s thanksgiving, a muffin sent me news of Alton Brown on Pie (mmm pie).

This is so exaggerated, and therefore so awesome.  Via RudeBoyZach:

I want one of these. Eric So designed this thing and it’s AWESOME and I can’t find one for sale anywhere.

Appreciate it’s awesomeness, and let Zach know if you can find it anywhere.

OK so of all the songs on my computer, there is 1 song you will find repeated the most.  That song is St. Louis Blues.  I have something like 47 different versions of it.  I guess I could’ve picked any 1 song, but I love to see how many different ways artists can have their own takes on the same song (FULL DISCLOSURE: My favs are by Cannonball Adderley, Emir Deodato, and Johnny Lytle).  When I stumbled over yet another version and this one had a puppet guitar in it, well, this is why people have blogs.  To post the sort of crap that they want to post about.  This has nothing to do with my usual topics of weirdness (maybe it does), design, Mad Men, etc. but I just had to share all the same.

I love this guy’s art, and had a chance to meet him at SPX this past year.  Awesome.  Link.

I don’t know where this started, but when it shows up on a coworker’s computer AND in my Twitter feed, I figure it must be making the rounds.  A great advert for Photoshop, recreating the work area with real things.  So fun.  Link.

Btw, sorry for the lack of blogging lately.  I’ve had time to keep the comics up on time (which is, lets face it, why you’re here) but haven’t had time to post all the crazy internets I’m finding.  It’ll be back soon enough.

If this doesn’t make you at least smile, you’re dead to the world.  This just about personifies the sort of Internet Meme Culture Awesomeness.  Check out the whole set, especially this one.

That’s no typo.  This fulfills my core purposes in life.  It is a design / typography joke with an 80’s cartoon reference.  This is the convergence of worlds.  This is where awesome meets spectacular.  If you’re nerdy enough to get and appreciate this, I salute you.  If you’re female and the last statement applies, let me know if you’re single.
