Future World Problems: Light Cycle Lanes

This week will be full of comics by my fellow webcomic creators and the creme de la creme of visual entries to the FutureWorldProblems contest I mentioned the other day. If you like this charming entry, check out the original post with FutureWorldProblems here, or the first comic on the subject here.

Today’s FutureWorldProblem comes from James “In His Likeness” Hatton, a man of quick wit and an a fellow brother in the world of minimalist comics. His comic, In His Likeness, is an existential comedy featuring G-d, the Devil, Buddha, and other religious figures as the main characters. If you like The System but wished I’d stop making so many design jokes, you should check out IHL.

This past weekend I got to hang with Jamie at Wild Pig Con in Springfield, NJ. We spent most of Saturday night with some of our other cohorts sitting around a table trying to make up new #FutureWorldProblem ideas. He’s good at it.

Jamie was actually also the driving force behind the theme in the first place. It was an original post by Jamie on Twitter that made me write the first one, which then proceeded to make me write 10 more immediately. What was that first tweet of his?

@revvoice: Comic is running late due to not being able to remotely login to my home computer.  #stupidthefuture

Sure, #futureworldproblems had more of a ring to it than #stupidthefuture, but he’s definitely the g-dfather of the meme.

Btw, as for the FutureWorldProblems contest I mentioned earlier in the week? Results will post on Friday. Another guest comic will be up tomorrow, see you then!

Thanks to Systemic and long-time friend of The System Marty Fn Day for sending me this amazing poster. Well he sent me a link to the poster. If he actually sent me the POSTER that would be way cooler. Hear that, Marty? Huh?

It’s a painstakingly detailed image of almost 1,000 different zombie references from movies, books and games all in one great poster. The site even lets you zoom in and pan around to see all the references! Definitely worth checking out. Seems like they may start making more of the same, be sure to stay tuned to FreakingAweso.me.

Future World Problems: Basketball

This week will be full of comics by my fellow webcomic creators and the creme de la creme of visual entries to the FutureWorldProblems contest I mentioned the other day. If you like this charming entry, check out the original post with FutureWorldProblems here, or the first comic on the subject here.

As of this writing, I’m still looking for a one more solid entry! Put them together or email me (systemcomic at gmail) for questions.

Today’s comes from Justin over at Lefthandedtoons.com. While I haven’t known him as extensively as Chris Impink, I can say that I’ve been a big fan of LHT for a while. My absolute favorite is this one about predicting the future. Connection to #FutureWorldProblems? QUITE POSSIBLY.

Fun fact: I myself am lefthanded, so I don’t really see what the fuss is about.

Future World Problems: The DodecaDown

UPDATE: Here’s today’s comic on Reddit. Consider giving it a vote here or on whatever site you like to share things on.

This week will be full of comics by my fellow webcomic creators and the creme de la creme of visual entries to the FutureWorldProblems contest I mentioned the other day. As of this writing, I’m still looking for a few entries for the guest comic week! Put them together or email me (systemcomic at gmail) for questions.

Today’s comes from the incomparable Chris “The Impact” Impink who is the artist behind Sledgebunny, a fairly new webcomic about a girl trying to make it in a roller derby team. But he’s no newbie to the webcomic arena, Chris has been working on Fragile Gravity since before you knew what a webcomic was. As you can see with the comic above, the man is amazing. Sledgebunny is 43 pages in, that’s enough to get you hooked and want to bookmark it, and clearly you should. He’s on Twitter too. Also, ROLLER DERBY ZOMBIE FIGHT.

Check the blog soon for some details about the last two cons I attended (Intervention and Wild Pig con) and stay tuned for more FutureWorldProblems week!

Pictured here: MTL, blog writer and often animal-shelter user.

Okay so you’re stranded in the middle of nowhere. You need to stay alive through the night and there’s no shelter in sight. Clearly the best thing to do is cut open an animal and crawl into it, right? But what if there are no TaunTauns around?

Systemic Manderson sends word of the hilarious and amazing blog http://crawlinginsideanimalstosurvive.blogspot.com/ tells you just what animals are best suited for this and why. Even tackling the question of whether they smell better on the outside or inside.

Check it out. It’s funny. LINK »
