The System 532: Any Questions?

Now let’s be clear. I’m not against reusable bags, in fact I am all for them.

That being said, think it through. Just how many of those do you need before they start to be wasteful just like the disposable bags they’re replacing? Every craft fair, grocery store, conference and gala event seems to give you one these days, and most of them are just crappy enough, small enough, or an odd enough size and shape that they really aren’t that usable in the first place, much less reusable.

So by all means if you use a bag, use a reusable one. But sometimes, do you really need a bag at all?

Found from Kottke.org (which I probably check more than any other website), here’s a great video about bicycles and how they stay up while moving when NOBODY IS ON THEM. Physics + Bikes = Fun and Awesome!

Internet homie (and known Systemic) Lee Cherolis is no stranger to The System. In fact, he did two guest comics for The System a while back that can still be found in the archives here and here. Recently, he and Ed Cho started a new comic called Little Guardians, which is a wonderfully illustrated and written webcomic that is just starting to get really interesting.

Recently, somewhat in reference to my sick week, they referenced The System in one of their posts. I cut out a snippet above, but there’s more to it than that. You’ll have to go to the post to read it (here is that post). The post is even called “Novier Cave Paintings”, a nice touch.

As much as I want you to see the reference, make sure to check out their comic, from the beginning, here.

I’ve been making some posters lately and putting them up on my Tumblr (rosscott.tumblr.com). Some just for fun, some things I’m working on, and some that are for actual projects.

This first one (above) is for the Death Star Art Show, which is next weekend in Baltimore. Here’s some details:

On Friday, October 7th 2011, Baltimore area artist will pay tribute to the horror genre and a galaxy far, far away. Whether it is a mash up of your favorite movie monster playing an intergalactic bounty hunter or a direct reference between Dracula and the Sith, we got you covered. Death Star Art Show is proudly presented by the mega powers of Charmed Life Gallery and Super Art Fight.

You should click here to see the official Tumblr site for more details and more of the amazing artwork that will be at the show.

As for the “28 Parsecs Later” piece, the response was pretty great, so I’m going to make it available from the HilariAwesome store after the art show.

Also on Tumblr lately you can see my take on Wilford Brimley as Cthulu, a motivational typographic poster, and something about poop. I can’t garuantee a schedule, but I’m having a lot of fun doing these posters so there will probably be more soon. Every time I do one all I can think is “I went to school for this.” Then I laugh and cry a bit.
