System in the Wild: Sapporo Edition
You send in System-like images you find in the wild, I post them. Send them to systemcomic at gmail.
No, not the beer. Systemic Paul Healey brings us the following:
This sign was on the plaza of the train station is Sapporo Japan. I
never could figure out what the symbol on the lower right meant.
I’m thinking “no graffiti” but I’d accept “no zig-zagging”.
See you next post!

Not the food, the country. Systemic Ilkay sent these all the way from Turkey! It’s not quite China, but still pretty cool.
Hi, I have two traffic signs for you from Turkey. One is for animal crossing but with a strange kind of animal pictogram, the other one is for pedestrian crossing but more like “beware of the gentleman!”
Regards,ilkay

System in the Wild: Farm Equipment Edition
You send in System-like images you find in the wild, I post them. Send them to systemcomic at gmail.
From Systemic Steve Marschall who writes:
There was an amazing array of odd people images from the farm equipment display [at the Maryland Montgomery County Fair]. Who knew it was so dangerous.
My favorite is Hay Bail. It means don’t get run over by a huge hay bail when it is let out of the back of the collector.Others are:– Twister and Twister 2 – don’t get tangled in an exposed rapidly spinning axle– Fingers – Keep fingers out of chains– Falling – Don’t stand on the back of the vehicle when it starts moving– Flying Rocks – Don’t get hit by rocks flying out form the industrial lawn mower– Kids Driving – Don’t let kids under 16 drive– Lawn Mower – Don’t put fingers or foot into spinning blade– Opening Door – Don’t get hit by rising opening door– Vehicle – don’t flip vehicle over

System in the Wild: Guangdong Edition
You send in System-like images you find in the wild, I post them. Send them to systemcomic at gmail.
Today’s come from Systemic Kin Tang who reports to us all the way from Gangzhou Subway in Guangdong, China. Before I even post the images, let’s take a moment and appreciate just how far away that is from me, who writes this comic mostly in a studio apartment in Washington, DC:
What’s that dotted line on the right-hand side? Oh, that’s the world repeating over again in Google Maps. Because I had to zoom out so far to get a good picture that the world started repeating in the window. That’s how far away it is. The Internet is connecting people, and this is us seeing it in action. Boom.
Okay, onto the pics. The first two are from inside the subway car. Notice the totally System-looking dudes. Also, how there is no chasing. Are lots of people in China chasing each other? Chasing implies that one person is going after another. In my experiences (mostly in the U.S.) I’ve seen no running signs, but not no chasing signs. I guess they want to discourage both the chase-er and the chase-ee? If you’re being chased though, can you really tell someone “Hey! Stop chasing me! Didn’t you see the sign?”
Also, need to recreate that “No Lying” graphic so I have a good Burt Reynolds icon ready to go.
No climbing or swinging. What you have to remember about these signs is that these sorts of things only get made to prevent liability or because it has already been a problem in the past.
Finally this one from inside the station. Love the surfing escalator graphic. I bet planking is frowned upon, too.
That’s it for this edition of System in the Wild! Keep sending them in, and remember that they sit in my inbox until I post them.
Oh, and these things never get many comments or likes on the site, so I do honestly wonder if people read them. If you do, mind leaving a quick comment that just says “read it” or “like it”? Thanks!

System in the Wild: Restaurant Edition
You send in System-like images you find in the wild, I post them. Send them to systemcomic at gmail.
This first one is from Systemic Ober:
Sighting outside of a Mexican restaurant. Maybe they have these all over but it’s the first time I’ve seen one.
And one from Systemic William:
I saw this rather strange sign on the floor of a foot path in France – thought you might like it for System in the Wild.
You’re right, I do like it! I mean a little odd, but hey. It’s France. I’m not judging.
Two great ones, thanks guys! Keep ’em coming! Did I mention there’s a Kickstarter? You should support it.

This first one is from Systemic Tom, though as far as I know he did not create the image just captured it. Still pretty cheeky.
Next from Systemic Allison is a greeting card gone wrong (or right?). If those were my characters, one of them would be complaining about tuition.
And finally, one from Systemic (and longtime friend) Rachel who writes:
While I was in Russia I saw this awesome sign outside the restaurant we ate lunch at and thought of you (and your comic).
So, there you go. Did I mention there’s a Kickstarter? You should support it.

System in the Wild: Battery Edition
Sometimes you wonderful Systemics spot awesome and hilarious stuff that looks kinda like the comic. You send it my way, and I post it as “System in the Wild”.
Systemic Michael sends in the image above with the following note:
I found the following in an instruction manual for the replacement of the back up battery in a UPS unit. Leaving off the explanatory text, I can think of all sorts of hilarious things that picture could be trying to imply besides back pain. How about you?
Glad you asked, Michael! Here’s a few takes on what that phrase could otherwise be saying:
- Warning: Poison dart sniper zone
- Caution: Box only liftable by turkeys
- Caution: Be sure to lift onto a surfboard for transport
But what do you guys think?
Send cool posts and System images to systemcomic at gmail!
