This morning was kinda weird and fun, I got to Baltimore and be on the 98 Rock morning show promoting tomorrow’s big Super Art Fight show at The Ottobar (tickets still available!). They had on the show all morning guest Darrel Hammond from SNL fame, and he was a great sport when I put him on the spot to say “WHEEL OF DEATH” in his Don Pardo voice. What you can’t hear in this bit is that we were FREAKING OUT because being on morning radio isn’t exactly something we’d done before, but I think we handled it pretty well.

Any time bikes + design + pretty things shows up, I have to share it. It’s like some sort of weird rule of my life. This was made by STUDENTS (I’m jealous).

There are laws that say I have to post this stuff when I find it.

Spoilers ahoy. But also, “Giving a brick when it’s not your turn to give a brick.” is amazing.

I love this song and music video all about biking. It shows all the different types of bikers (we’re not ALL hipster fixie douchebags) and does a nice job of parodying many of the stereotypes, while still being generally positive overall. The song is called Motherf*king Bike by Sons of Science. Their site is http://www.motherfuckingbike.com/.

You can even download the song here!

By the way, I think it’s choose to say “jiff” not “giff”.*

Thanks to Kottke once again!

Because I’m a full time professor and can do whatever I want, I had Jami “Angry Zen Master” Noguchi come to campus this week to do a Photoshop painting tutorial for my students. Beyond melting some faces off with his Photoshop jitsu, he also took the time to paint a portrait of me.

I was invited by American University’s Design Club to give a digital illustration master class. I took the opportunity to draw a screwy portrait of my Super Art Fight cohort, Ross. No audio because YouTube hates my audio tracks and gives me grief about monetization and shiz like that which makes no sense since I recorded the damn things, but whatever. Here’s a timelapse of the illustration.

I’m uploading the entire presentation which is about an hour and half, so if you want to something to lull you sleep on a restless night, I’ll hook it up as soon as it’s ready.

You can find his original post here.

UPDATE: Oh! And here’s a picture of me for reference:

Jimmy was recently spotted by Systemic James “Jimmy Hat” Hatton in this video by Devo Spice. Luckily, it’s early in the video so you don’t have to watch the whole thing (unless you really want to):

This past weekend, the Super Art Fight gang went to Webcomics Con, and due to the wedding of a very close friend, I couldn’t attend. In my stead, they held the SUPER ART FIGHT: ROSS NOVER MEMORIAL CUP tournament. One of the bouts, Nick “Ghostfreehood” Borkowicz versus the Internet’s own Chris “Dr. McNinja” Hastings. has found it’s way online. If you’ve never seen how SAF looks, this is a good example (though without the gigantic stadium-sized audience we normally have). Some of the best improv art and comedy we’ve ever had.
