The System Guest Comic: Magpie Luck

Last week in preparation for SXSW I asked for some guest comics to help pad the blow of getting back into the swing of things. Katie Sekelsky of Magpie Luck was kind enough to take me up on the challenge. Her comic is a beautifully drawn tale of a time traveler trying to set the world right, but she clearly knows what it’s like to be a designer. Good on ya, Katie!

Btw, I am generally on the lookout for guest comics. If you do a good one, I’ll probably post it. Send it over to systemcomic at gmail, but be warned that if I don’t like it I may not post. So make it a good one!

The System 348: Fitting In At SXSW (Gear)

Yes, I know most of you are sick of hearing about it, but here is some insight into the SXSW Interactive Experience. I’ll post more of an update here soon, but for now this is about what I’m seeing. Of course, this is what I’m doing right now as well so who am I to talk.

UPDATE: I wound up on TWiT live for about 30 seconds during the DiggNation party the other night. I went up to Leo Laporte to thank him for linking to the Singletasking comic. Of course, I was in the middle of trying to get some friends into the party, but wanted to say a quick hello. This is when he turned the camera on me for a quick interview. I was off my game, and therefore only mentioned the web address twice. It was a live feed, but some amazing Systemics managed to swoop in and got some screen shots. PICS THAT IT HAPPENED. If anyone can find a video feed of this freakish occurance, please do let me know.

The System 303: What We’ve Learned Lately

Here is that recap I promised, in the same vein as #100 and #200.  As I said in the post on #300, thank you all for reading, commenting, sending in System in the Wild posts, and doing all the little things you do to support The System.  I notice.

Remember, this, along with all comics, can be purchased as a comic print through HilariAwesome.com! This one comes out to a Super A3/B print (13″ x 19″ paper for all you laymen) that is high quality poster awesomeness.  It may be way bigger than the normal comic, but it’s still the same $10 at HilariAwesome.com!

UPDATE: Systemic Lextrical put together a little “magic bean”, a piece of music based upon this comic. Here it is!

The System 300: Emo Filter

Happy 300!

I know in the past I’ve done big recap comics for The System 100 and The System 200.  Expect that tradition to continue, but I couldn’t do it in time for today*.  It’ll just have to be posted under another number.  Still, thank you all to each of you who reads the comic.  I like to look at the numbers and stats (some would say too much) and think about how that is individual people enjoying commiserating with what is going on here.  If anyone has any suggestions for comics from the last 100 that need to be “called out” in the big recap comic, let me know in the comments of this post.

By the way, did you know you can buy prints of this or any other comic?  Check out the new online store for that and all things The System, Hilariawesome.com. Find Jimmy the Murderdog, comic prints, bike sniper shirts, and even HELL Vetica.

In the meantime, thanks again, Systemics.  It’s been a year and a half of awesome, and I can’t wait to take it further.

*Btw, thanks to Systemic @AngelicHapa who suggested I use this old tweet as inspiration for today’s comic. Thanks for following me on Twitter, and for the idea!

The System 274: Quitting Unexpectedly

It seems to go along a bit with Rosscott’s Law, but dealing more with the aftermath.   Whatever the situation, let this comic serve as a public service announcement: SAVE YOUR WORK.

Have you ever had this happen to you?  What programs seem to quit the most on you?  What was the worst situation? Post in the comments!
