The System 483: Mobile App Terms

True story, the DC Metro app I use to tell me when the next train is coming decided to update itself off of usage on my iPhone 3G. I posted about this on Twitter, and my clever friends began the app pun war. Thanks to Ananth, Caldwell, Hatton, Dern and Brandon for the chatter and ideas that inspired this comic.

Also for your enjoyment:

Which, is now going to be on a t-shirt and is now in preorder for $15! Preorders will run for a week. ORDER HERE »

The System 481: Smart Phone

A follow-up to “Dumb Phones”, what happened to my iPod and “Rosscott’s Law”.

Also, some unfortunate news, not sure about the update schedule for the next couple of days. Life is pretty swamped, so I may have to miss some updates. Fair warning, but I’ll try and keep you up to date through this post and new posts on the site.

The System 466: Nope!

This is another true story (minus the miniature deer).

Oh and by the way! I was on the latest episode of Digital Strips talking about webcomics, Super Art Fight, and mostly reviewing one of my favorite comics, Yellow Peril. Also, Kleefeld did a great mashup of one of my comics. Check it out here.

You ever revel in being weird? Where? When? My long history of being weird dates back to being a huge Gonzo (of the Muppets) fan. It was even the basis for my college essay, which I guess turned out well enough. It did get me into college and all.

The System 448: Conference Calls

Add this to a mental list of Hired to Fired: The System’s Tips for Success.

What’s the weirdest place you’ve ever taken a conference call? One Systemic has already mentioned a graveyard. Can anyone match / top that?

The System 399: What Lag?

Apologies for the delays in comics on Friday and Monday. Not a trend, but some big things are in the works around here. If they go through, at the end of the day you’ll see more comics so STAY TUNED! Comic #400, along with our official 2-year anniversary, will be Thursday. It’s not too late to get a card!

The System 364: What to Say…

It’s a well-known fact that my mom reads this comic. It’s maybe not a well-known fact that my dad does not (on most days). Mom, this would be a bad day to tell him to start. Let’s just see if he finds it…

This is actually the 2nd comic based on a true story involving my father. The first being a quote he always says, “that’s how they get you.”

UPDATE: If you’re a fan (or a true Systemic), here’s two ways to help me out!

  1. If this is like your parents or someone you know, post so in the comments! I’m trying to prove to my Dad it’s universal and more about “parents” than him in particular.
  2. If you really like the comic, it’s on Reddit! Go show it some love.

The System 361: Sometimes Practically…

I almost had him ask about the battery life.

About the comic: Clearly this is a reference to the new iPhone that’s been “leaked” (via Gizmodo). It started with an idea about how annoying this sort of coverage has become, since it doesn’t help you get the phone any faster or do anything other than stir up crap, and leads to a nitpick content-hungry bullshit culture that does little for themselves or their readership.  I think they’re handling the whole thing in poor taste, they are choosing to openly and often use the name and photo of the poor engineer that lost the prototype iPhone 4G at a bar. I’m not linking directly to the story because of this (why send more traffic to something I don’t agree with?), but if you look on their site or Google it, it comes up straight away as of this posting.

Very mucho thanks to Jami “Angry Zen Master” Noguchi, who was my sounding board while I was writing this one. He first uttered the phrase about practically curing cancer, the rest was just cleanup.

The System 358: Dumb Phones

Sometimes I think a dumb phone would be better than a smart phone. No girlfriends calling you to look up addresses, nobody expecting you got that thing they sent you…
